So, Let's get started.
Let me first tell you,
What is leg spin?
➡ It is a type of Spin bowling in cricket.
➡Bowler is known as Leg spinner and is also called as leggie.
➡A Leg spinner bowls with right arm with a wrist spin action, causing the ball to spin from right to left on the cricket pitch, when the ball bounces.
➡It spins away from the leg side of a right handed batsman.
➡The same kind of trajectory which spins from right to left on pitching. When it is performed by a left- arm bowler is known as left arm unorthodox spin bowling.
➡Leg spinners bowl the ball far more slowly around 70-90km/hr or 45-55mph than the fast bowlers.
➡The fastest leg spinners will sometimes top 100km/hr that is 60mph.
➡Typically leg spinners use variations of flight by sometimes looping the ball in the air, allowing any cross- breeze and the aerodynamics effects of the spinning ball to cause the ball to dip and drift before bouncing and spinning sharply.
➡ Leg spin is very difficult to bowl accurately but,

1) Googly
2) Top-spinner
3) Flipper
4) Slider
5) Zoora
You know all the variations now.

➡How to Grip the ball
1) The most important thing for the bowler is grip.
The basic grip is Two fingers up, two fingers down.
Not so tight, not so loose.
2) when your bowling arm reaches through your shoulder cock your wrist. Cocking of the wrist is most important to get more spin.
Now, let's see how to bowl leg spin.
1) While performing leg spin make sure to grip the ball accurately.
2) Back of the hand faces towards the bowler while releasing the ball.
3) use your wrist and third finger to spin the ball & ball spins away from the right handers.
4) back foot should be parallel to the crease at the time of landing.
5) Front foot toe should point towards fine leg.
6) most important, Your non bowling arm should be in sync with the bowling arm.
7) third finger plays a major role for a leg spinner.

Tips:- 1) A beginner can start with one-step bowling and then slowly increase the steps.
2) Side-on position is must in order to get more turn and bounce.
3) Perform various drills before every practice session to improve your bowling.
4) Record your bowling videos during practice & watch them to track your mistakes and plus points.
After watching your bowling videos you can improve on your techniques.
You will be able to make plans and strategies according to your mistakes and plus points.

ReplyDeleteHi iam chinaman, Iam working very hard for it bowl 100bowls to120 bowls per day (target bowling /spot bowling ) but still Iam inconsistent my non bowling arm is not opening and falling i think this is main problem but don’t know how to cure it, Iam very motivated and kabhi har nahi manta but still itne failures par failures aate hai then sometime i feel low so if you reply me and help me in this.. it means alot to me.
ReplyDeleteI will suggest you to perform one step bowling, while performing this drill focus on one thing that is your non-bowling arm needs to be in sync with your bowling arm.
DeleteAfter that increase steps and do the same drill.
Keep doing it untill you get back to your full bowling steps.
When it comes to perform drills most of the players deny it.
But drills are the most important part of our training.
So, I will recommend you to perform drills before every practice.
