Below you will find a simple questionnaire and rating system to help athletes, coaches, and parents of athletes understand the elements that comprise the zones. Readers of this article will also be able to understand what are the common obstacles in the zone.

There are questions here.

Just rate yourself on every question from 1-10.

You can use ratings from zero to ten and you can use decimal points. Ten is the highest rating you can get, zero being the lowest rating.

➡How confident do you feel?
➡How relaxed do you feel?
➡How focused do you feel?
➡How well are you practicing?

➡Do you know how to recover from a loss, blow or recession?
➡For young athletes - how is your relationship with your parents?
➡Have you seen yourself on video in the last ninety days?
➡Are you grateful for your opportunity to master a sport or skill?
➡Do you have the technology to move from choking to the zone?
➡Are you competing and practicing?
➡Do you set short and long term goals and objectives?

➡If you are a religious or spiritual person, do you use prayer as part of your training and as part of your pre-game routine?
➡How well do you manage the highs and lows that are part of any challenge?
➡How is your relationship with your coaches, teammates and colleagues?
➡Do you practice meditation, visualization, guided imagery or visualization before the competition and when you practice?

"Ideally, I like to see athletes with a score of 8.5 on most of the above. Being eighty five percent prepared, usually enough to perform well. Therefore, a perfect score on this test is about 263.5. If you get this score, there is a good chance that you are in a mental frame of mind that will allow you to perform well.

If you discover the weaknesses that are causing you to lose matches and tournaments, then you need to develop strategy and techniques to overcome these shortcomings.

This type of change is difficult to make on its own. A sport psychologist, coach or mentor can often be helpful in building confidence, reducing anxiety, improving focus, and showing you how to enter the zone more often.
